This July, Delta Energy Systems Australia was delighted to have Benjamin Ong start as the Field Application Engineer in the Electric Vehicle Charging team, directly reporting to Matti Dinkelmeyer, the Senior Manager for E-Mobility and Energy Storage Solutions at Delta.

Ben has just graduated from Monash University where he studied both Electrical Engineering and Finance. Over the years, he has obtained experience in electronics, robotics and recently has developed extensive skills in coding as well.

The major reason that Ben chose to work with Delta is that as a person whose biggest passion lies in technology, there was nothing more exciting and rewarding than to be a part of a company whose primary mission is to develop products that allow all of us to live in a more sustainable world. According to Ben, the electric vehicle and solar industries are industries that require more research and monetary investment to truly become a mainstream in Australia. So having the chance to be a part of a team that are pushing these industries forward is an amazing opportunity and experience.

Ben is also taking part in a new project in collaboration with the CSIRO and is one of the key team members in the research and development team. “My aim for this project is to build a smart box that allows the Delta AC Mini Plus charger to run completely off-grid with or without battery storage and still be able to service EV owners anywhere in Australia. If successful, this technology could have wider implications and could change the way Australia thinks about and utilises electric vehicles in the future”, Ben said.

When it comes to pastimes and hobbies, Ben likes to play tennis, run and go hiking. He also loves keeping himself updated with the latest technology news and also enjoys the odd video game here and there. Most importantly, Ben’s greatest passion is to work on projects that use technology to enhance the way people live their lives.
